Energy Club WA brings Industry connection to life at Careers Expo 2026
The Energy Club of WA’s Next Generation Energy Program delivered the Next Gen Energy Engagement Hub at Careers Expo 2026, turning workforce engagement into something far more meaningful than a standard careers stand.
Across 14–17 May at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Expo drew 14,000+ attendees, creating one of WA’s largest workforce engagement opportunities for industry
For Energy Club of WA’s, the goal was simple, workforce engagement should go beyond exposure. It should build connection, confidence and clarity for young people exploring energy and resources careers.
Throughout the four days, students met directly with industry through interactive Careers Pods, speaking with professionals across energy, engineering, operations, technology, communications, innovation, project delivery and emerging energy fields.
“ECWA and it’s industry partners did an outstanding job elevating their existing program, using the Careers Expo to expand its reach in a fresh and innovative way,” said Keen2Connect CEO and event organiser Nigel Keen.
Careers Expo champions youth mental health
Perth’s longest running Careers Expo continues to make an impact with its partnership with zero2hero. “Keen2connect are very proud to partner with zero2hero to support youth mental health and suicide prevention, it’s devastating to learn that, of the 70 individual applications (ages 12-18) received by zero2hero for programs during this year’s event, 37% flagged that they are currently or previously experienced mental illness, self-harm, or suicide ideation and 45% flagged experience with people who have dealt with or dealing with mental illness demonstrating more needs to be done to raise awareness” said Keen2Connect CEO and event organiser Nigel Keen.
Careers Expo featured in The West Australian
The National Careers Week lift out in the West on Friday 9 May, featured and promoted Careers Expo as WA’s Premier event in Western Australia showcasing opportunities in education, training and employment.

Award-winning WA event organiser recognised for social impact at National awards
Perth’s longest running Careers Expo has received national recognition at the Australian Business Event Association (ABEA) awards in Sydney on 10 December 2024. The expo was named a finalist for Best Sustainability Initiative – Social and Cultural Award for its partnership with zero2hero that promotes youth mental health and suicide prevention.
Keen2Connect CEO and event organiser Nigel Keen also received the Industry Award from Tourism Australia for his personal contributions to the Business events industry. “It’s an honour to receive recognition at a national level among industry peers and for our work with zero2hero,” said Mr Keen.
